Grandma's Grove RV Resort

Grandma's Grove RV Resort

We recently stayed at the very cute, quiet and beautiful Grandma’s Grove RV Resort situated just a few miles outside of Fort Meyers, Florida during our two month stay in the state.

Originally a commercial orange grove operated for generations by the Swartz family, Grandma's Grove transformed into an RV park when the orange industry started to decline. It began with a few camping spots offered underneath the sweet scented orange trees to passing travelers. The spot became so popular that eventually the property developed into an full time RV resort complete with electric hookups, swimming pool, horseshoe pit, club house, dump station, clean showers, laundry room and weekly activities for visitors and long term residents.

This park is conveniently located right off of Florida Route 80 approximately 40 minutes east of Fort Meyers, FL. You can’t miss it from the highway with the electric red sign of grandma rocking in her chair. Access is very easy, even with a large RV. We were able to pull in with our 35’ RV and our attached tow car and we had no problem finding a place to stop at the office to check in.

Grandma’s Grove has hundreds of spaces, many of which are for guests that are staying long term. We stayed in their overflow area as it was mid-winter (the high season) but still had 30 amp electrical power and potable water hookups at our site. Our space was on a very nicely maintained grass area that was backed by a row of trees and the staff went out of their way to make our stay the best it could be.

It's really obvious that people running Grandma's Grove genuinely want to make sure you have a wonderful stay. The mom and pop touches of this large park made us feel at home and part of the community immediately.

Events take place all week at the recreation center, from themed dances thrown each month to bingo to church services. Guests and residents are all invited to the events, and all events are well attended.

We stayed for about two weeks and met many of the long-term residents, all of whom were very friendly and went out of their way to make us feel at home.

Another huge benefit of staying here was the helpfulness of the staff in receiving and holding our mail! Because we are on this year-long road trip, it is hard for us to get our mail and to order items we need. The staff in the office received and stored many packages for us prior to our arrival at the park and even forwarded us the packages that arrived after we left. We owe them big time because we had so much delivered!

Finally, we cannot say enough good things about the on-site mechanic! He not only helped us fix a small coolant leak on our RV, he offered a lot of advice and validation for many of the issues we were having with the rig at that time. He was very trustworthy, affordable and effective. His help saved us lots of time and money, not to mention the hassle of trying to find an RV repair center.

Grandma’s Grove was in a great spot along our travels through Florida. It was easy to find, was quiet, had everything we needed for our stay, and the caring staff made our stay a very pleasurable one! We had a great stay here and would definitely recommend it to anyone making their way through Florida.
